Join the WaterWealth Project in the next steps of our campaign to build momentum for 100% local control over our home waters.
In the coming month, we will speak with as many people as we can to find out how they feel about fresh water protection and record their concerns with our surveying and story mapping tools. We will ask people to sign a declaration to protect our home waters in the Chilliwack and Chilliwack Hope ridings. A community “storymap” that illustrates local concerns about our home waters will be presented to all candidates running for office in the upcoming provincial elections. We will challenge all candidates to sign the declaration, and hold our next MPs accountable to fresh water protection.
To make this happen, we need you!
The WaterWealth Project is organizing two community engagements blasts every week during the month of April. In teams of two, we will visit public places, neighbourhoods and events with our story mapping tools and our declaration. Here’s how you can join us:
1. Come to our community engagement and outreach training session on Saturday, April 6th from 1 – 5 pm. We’ll give you the inside scoop on our campaign, ask you for your ideas to hone our strategy, and equip you with community engagement skills for our “Water Blitzes.” We’ll also share some free pizza. If you can’t make it on Saturday but would like to be involved, read on!
2. Come to our “Water Blitzes!” Twice a week, we’ll take to the streets in teams. We’ll offer a community engagement and outreach training session to new volunteers 45 minutes before each “blast”, and pizza for all afterwards. We can also offer childcare but please RSVP with Natalie@waterwealthproject.com in advance if you would like this service.
3. Spread the word! If you can’t do the “Water Blitzes”, please let all your friends, family members and neighbours know about us. And don’t forget to share your story with us online at http://www.waterwealthproject.com/share_your_story.
