We’ve been dreaming and scheming big at The WaterWealth Project, and have crafted a strategy that is designed for exponential success with exponential engagement. Help us bring more people into this movement by directly contributing to it yourself!

Whether you’re a social butterfly or a quiet fox, we have many different volunteer roles to suit a wide array of skill sets, interests, and personality types… probably one that’s a perfect fit for YOU! Read on for some of the main roles we have available, or scroll straight to the bottom to sign up!

Community Connectors

At WaterWealth, one of our aims is to weave a rich, collective narrative expressing the benefits of and threats to our shared home waters. We first need to gather the necessary threads–locals’ personal stories of specific places within the landscape–and we will do this using some custom-developed survey technology with a special map feature. After collecting enough threads, we’ll begin to layer these individuals’ stories together through a supplemental piece of software.

In this role, volunteers would be going out to various public spaces, community events, and neighbourhoods over the coming weeks and facilitating individuals to plug their story into our map-based survey technology. This work will be done in close relationship with the Community Organizers working for The WaterWealth Project.

The WaterWealth team will provide all necessary training, tools, and scheduling. This is a great opportunity to develop skills and experience in community engagement, public relations, visual story-telling, and strategic communications. No previous experience necessary!

Foundation Builders

The work of WaterWealth requires a strong foundation to build on. That foundation is composed of the vital work of administration, organization, and the maintenance of a positive, inviting atmosphere at our office.

In this role, volunteers would spend time holding down the fort at our headquarters (keeping it fun, tidy, informative, and inviting), assisting our Office Manager with administrative tasks, and occasionally distributing communications materials (i.e. posters, handbills, etc.) throughout the community.

The WaterWealth team will provide all necessary training, tools, and scheduling. This is a great opportunity to develop skills and experience in public relations and administration. No previous experience necessary!

Intel Agents

The success of WaterWealth depends on everyone involved–staff, volunteers, and especially community members at large–to have accessible, relevant, and accurate information about our home waters. This includes content related to the wealth of benefits garnered from our home waters; the imminent threats to the health of our home waters;contemporary aboriginal rights and title negotiations;the indigenous/pre-settlement and settlement histories of the region; and the various contemporary local, provincial, and federal regulations that impact the safety of our home waters.

In this role, volunteers will be conducting research and writing to ensure that everyone can have easy access to credible and relevant information. You would be working in close relationship with our resident Research Coordinator and other Community Organizers. The results of this background work may be used to inform our communications materials, website content, social media feeds, and public presentations.

The WaterWealth team will provide all necessary training and guidelines. This is a great opportunity to develop skills and experience in applied research and writing. No previous experience or knowledge of the subject matter necessary!

Multi-Media Contributors

Got skills in creating and/or curating traditional or digital arts? The WaterWealth Project welcomes artful contributions of water-themed media to bring our office space to greater life, and/or give our online presence some more flare (via video clips, photography, etc).

In this role, volunteers could offer artful water-themed content to the initiative, in hard copy (for the many friendly walls of our office) or digital format (for our social media and/or website). Depending on the skills and energy needed to pull it off, volunteer(s) in this capacity may also be empowered by the WaterWealth team to self-organize a supplemental community engagement mechanism that simultaneously serves as a way to profile local artists inspired by our home’s water wealth (i.e. an art showing, art contest, etc).

The WaterWealth team will provide any necessary orientation so that artists/designers/curators can better understand the context for their work. This is a great opportunity to build one’s portfolio and be connected to a high-energy, solution-oriented initiative. Let your art enliven our work!
